When we speak of arthritis we often think that it is just one disease, this could not be further from the truth. Arthritis is in fact an umbrella term of many different diseases of the joints. On the 15 July, the Florida Public Services Commission granted FPL permission to begin work on three major Solar Power plants across the state.

The first of these projects is ‘The Martin Next Generation Solar Energy Center’, scheduled for construction at the company’s already existent ‘Martin Plant’ site. It is expected to be operational in 2010, and will produce a maximum 75W output. It will combine steam with solar thermal power in order to reduce the amount of natural gas used in the energy conversion process.

Second is ‘The DeSoto Next Generation Solar Energy Center’ which is due for completion and operation in 2009. It is named after the county in which it’s being developed, and boasts a 25MW photovoltaic maximum capacity. This figure, when reached, would make it the largest photovoltaic center in the world.

The final project in the trio is ‘The Space Coast Next Generation Solar Energy Center’, and is the product of a partnership between NASA and the FPL. It has a photovoltaic capacity of 10MW, and will reportedly serve the needs of more than 2500 people. It is expected to be operational in 2009, and is to be built on the same grounds as the ‘Kennedy Space Center’.

Nestling some 3000 km off the east coast of Africa, just above the Tropic or Capricorn, is the beautiful tropical island of Mauritius. This jewel of the Indian Ocean boasts 160 km of beautiful coastline surrounded by coral reef, a breathtaking central plateau and dramatic picturesque mountains.

The Brief History of Mauritius

Mauritius was originally discovered by the Arabs in AD 975. Although they named it Dinarobin – meaning Silver Island – they left no evidence of their presence. In 12507, the Portuguese discovered it and gave it the name Ilha de Cerne, or Island of the swan. The Dutch, en route to their colonies in the East Indies – discovered it in 1598, naming it Maurits, after Prince Maurice of Nassau. In 1715 the French landed, calling it Ile de France. For years, pirates and bounty- hunters under French protection plundered the British vessels travelling to and from the spice and silk markets of the East. In 1810, the British launched a surprise attack against the French and conquered the islands, along with nearby Reunion. In 1968, Mauritius won her independence from Britain, remaining within the commonwealth. Today, Mauritius has little unemployment and a thriving economy, based mainly on sugar, tourism and textiles.

Consider this true life scenario.

Watching the TV news just last week I saw pictures of young boys in war torn Afghanistan, laughing with glee as they kicked a football amongst the ruins of their homes. Their joy in this simplest of activities was evident; their play was natural and not a performance for the camera. After all of the trauma they had experienced they were using a simple activity to get their lives back on track.

This joy in simplicity is evident in our young children too.

How often, like me, have you found your little ones playing with the gift wrapping paper rather then the expensive gift inside? Or after the initial excitement of Christmas or birthday morning, have you seen them clutching an ‘old favourite’ and ignoring the new shiny toys?

Acquiring a business loan is not as easy as having a petty cash loan from a friend or relative. Whether you are planning to have a large or small business you need a lot of preparation for that.

When applying for such a loan, always make sure that you are a hundred percent ready before talking to the banker, make a good impression. Having a business loan is like going through a needle, especially for novice entrepreneurs. Of course banks would favor businessmen who had already established their names and business over someone who is just trying to make his way to the business world. Drinks sets come in many shapes and sizes. When you are considering promotional items for your business, consider wine or water glasses with your company logo or slogan on them. The differences between the two are based on what it is that the glasses are being used for. Water glasses are much simpler in design and may or may not have stems. There are even tumblers that are also made for specific wines. Most wine glasses have stems which are held between the fingers, this can allow for the bottom of the wine glass to be cupped when appropriate. The glasses for wine are often made from very thin glass, such as blown glass. These glasses will have a very delicate appearance and will often break should they tip over. The bowl of these glasses is very deep in comparison to the glass itself and the sides are tapered inward a bit at the top on all but the glasses for the hearty red Bordeaux…Its glass is big and bold with untapered sides and the glassware design is meant to enhance the enjoyment of the wine and all its gusto. Wine glasses are never coloured in any way and they are only made of glass. The wine is best enjoyed in these kinds of glasses. There are many specialty shops and wine shops, which will happily show you many styles of glasses for drinking wine. They will be able to tell you exactly why you should not drink wines out of other styles of glasses and you can even do wine tastings from specific glasses.

There are some very famous designers and manufacturers of wine glasses and these glasses are all made to unerring specifications. However, some of the less expensive glassware has proven to be just as good in many tasting tests. The main differences that were noted are the weight and balance of the glasses. If you are just looking to stock a home bar with drinks sets, you need only have some glasses for wine, a set for spirits and some tumblers for mixed drinks. This minimum would get you by for social occasions and you could always add more drinks sets as you went along.

Promotional bottle openers? More exposure? Can they really do that? Yes they can! Anything promotional can give you and your company more exposure, how much exposure you actually get is up to you and your marketing strategy. Anything free is appealing to people, customers love getting free stuff from items they believe they are loyal purchasers of. So why not give them something for free?

Branded bottle openers, they are not the classiest of items, but significance they have. You can make an ordinary bottle opener something much more for your customer. So it is useful and it can make someone life easier even in a small way, for that one moment, the product that helped them has your picture on it, and it could just remind them that they need to buy that again!
