What makes a fragrance more of a feminine one, than a masculine one? Leaving aside the packaging, what are the main distinguishing elements that make a new perfume or cologne seem more suited to one or other sex? Of course there are many that seem unisex, suitable for both sexes to use – some of the Calvin Klein fragrances spring to mind in that context. If you buy fragrances from a perfume outlet you clearly know what you are getting, but if you were blindfolded and led into a room with someone wearing a fragrance – could you correctly indentify if they were a man or a woman? It could be a good parlour game don’t you think?
Just think back only 1 generation – would you have seen men trying out perfumes in stores? No, that would have seemed very odd. It is only since the 1990s that men have not been considered effeminate in being interested in such things – even men’s skincare is not considered all that strange these days, though best not go to a football match wearing foundation cream eh? Purchasing ladies perfumes for a loved one is however an everyday matter for men now.
Those guys who DO still feel a little uncomfortable, standing in full view (usually right in the main entrance area of a store) can always try buying wholesale perfumes, but they really do still have to do their detective work to know which fragrance to buy through sources like that. A perfume outlet is usually a little more low-key than a Department Store, so that remains another alternative for sourcing French perfumes or similar.

Africa is, in every sense, one of the most intriguing and impressive continents. The fascination is multi-faceted as this is a land of diversity in every sense. When considering the historical, cultural and social origins of the continent and its people, one is presented with a mosaic of theories, evidence and unavoidable truths. One theory that remains widely accepted amongst modern scientists is that Africa was the origin of mankind as we know it. Being the second largest and most populous continent in the world, and home to over 14% of the entire human population, this theory certainly bears a weighty significance on science, history and anthropology.
The first Homo sapiens (human being) was originally found in Ethiopia, situated in the Horn of Africa, and is believed to have lived on the earth some 200 000 years ago. Other hominids and their earliest ancestors were also discovered in Africa and have been dated to as far back as 7 million years. These include Australopithecus Aricanus, H. Ergaster, Sahelanthropus Tchadensis, A. Afarensis, Homo Erectus and Homo Habilis.
For a long time, Africa was known as the “Dark Continent”; a place of inactivity and dormancy. Historians and explorers regarded it with trepidation and perceived it as a mysterious land of magic and curses. This prevented widespread exploration for many decades, even centuries, leaving Africa relatively untouched.

For the duration of this piece we will be carefully taking a deeper look at the rich history of data storage. We are going to cover all of the popular forms of storage that have been available to people, throughout the history of the computer. Some younger people might not be very familiar with the earliest forms of technology that we’ll be discussing, but that’s the point of reading this.
The first decided way to store computer data effectively was through the use of density disks. These were also commonly referred to as floppy disc’s. The first floppies were actually very large, they were eight inches in size and introduced to the world in the early seventies. By the late seventies they grew in popularity and could store just under eighty kilobytes on one disk!
The first type of floppy disc’s that grew in popularity with the creation of the personal computer were the five and a quarter sized disc’s. These disc’s were often used to store the operating system as well because hard drives were not as available and far too expensive for most consumers. Some of these disc’s could store of to three hundred and sixty kilobytes. We weren’t yet up to half a megabyte yet.

Some might find it quite surprising that an insect so small can play a role so large for the entire planet’s ecosystem. Those with an interest in beginning a beekeeping hive will learn that the role of the humble honey bees is quite extraordinary as they contribute in large to the pollination of several flowering plants. Caring for and raising this important species requires the beekeeper to understand many different things about bees, ranging from their home to their food.
With the fall in the population of honey bees, a great deal of people have taken to ensuring the species continued survival through backyard colonies. Several environmentalists have begun offering starter kits that the public can buy in hopes of reversing the recent decay in bee numbers. Their overall goal is to spread many honey bees all over the world to prevent the entire species from going extinct in case the commercial honey farm bees completely wither away.
It is not difficult to procure a bee colony starter kit as they are readily available for purchase in many gardening supplies stores and several online stores. Most kits come with everything one can need for the care of the bees to the extraction of their honey. Higher end kits will also include specific instructions on how to better care for their bees in the specific location the buyer intends to start the hive.

With a pregnancy comes a number of mixed emotions. Among these emotions is the feeling of frustration, at seeing that all the pounds gained during pregnancy are not shed right after delivery. The reality is that the average woman will gain about 25-35 pounds during their pregnancy. About 15 of these pounds will be shed right after delivery, while the rest of the pounds will take some time. There are a few simple things you can do that will help you lose pregnancy weight.
One of the best methods to continue to shed those pounds is by breastfeeding. While you are pregnant your body will begin to store fat tissue, to prepare for breastfeeding. This same fat is the one that you will be using when you are breastfeeding your newborn baby. During this time you burn about 500 calories per day, just by the simple act of feeding your child breast milk. You should enjoy this time with your baby as bonding time, and should not see this as a workout routine.
Eating healthy also plays an important factor in losing weight as well as provides the nutrients your baby needs. You should eat fruits, vegetables as well as whole grain foods. Chips and fried foods should be avoided whenever possible during this time. Chances are during the pregnancy your doctor placed you on a special diet. You should continue to follow this diet even after delivery. You should also drink 8-10 glasses of water a day.

In the rest of the world it is the game commonly known as Football, and to be fair, the rest of the World laughs at how those from the states refer to it as “Soccer”. It has also been known for other World nations to take delight in the fact that the USA are traditionally not very successful at World football, after all everyone fears the outcome that is more than possible if they start to take the game seriously…..would anyone else have a chance in future World Cups? Would the trophy ever go anywhere else? 20 years ago you would have been laughed out of town at the suggestion that the United States may become a World force at “soccer” but are there now signs than this is a realistic suggestion?
The 2010 FIFA World Cup being held in South Africa will have opened up many eyes to the soccer revolution in the States. The team known as “The Stars and Stripes” topped their first round group, finishing ahead of the much fancied England after an opening match draw against said fancied team, a second draw against Slovenia and a late win when faced with Algeria. Undefeated qualification and top of the group, can you ask for more than that?
Should we really be surprised at their fortunes? The United States do have some World Cup pedigree. At the inaugural tournament held in 1930, the Stars and Stripes finished a creditable third. It is well documented that this early feat was succeeded with some real wilderness years during which time qualification to the finals was extremely rare. The change in fortunes came when the USA hosted the 1994 World Cup. Spirited performances in that tournament in front of large crowds began the rebirth of North American soccer. That rebirth did not take to come to fruition with a fourth place finish at Copa America in 1995, a quarterfinal appearance at the 2002 World Cup and significantly a 2009 Confederations Cup final appearance. On top of this the USA can boast four successes from their ten ventures in the Concacaf Gold Cup, a record bettered only by Mexico.

Selecting a roofing contractor for any type of material or roof construction is important because the roof protects the integrity of the entire home. Choose a good contractor and you are going to enjoy the benefits of a great looking roof, installed without complications and fuss, as well as be able to rest assured you had a good job done which is going to last for years without headaches.
Slate is a naturally occurring material which is the longest lived of all roofing materials. It is heavy which requires extra support and strength in the roof frame and underlying construction. It is fireproof and waterproof, ideal for use in areas prone to fire or subject to heavy rain and snowfall. It is a great insulator and provides no sustenance or support for any living pest such as mold or bugs.
A properly installed slate roof will last for more than one hundred years and allow the homeowner to enjoy minimal maintenance. The long life of slate and minimal total cost of ownership means it is the most economical of all roofing materials, however the upfront cost can be very high in comparison to other materials such as asphalt shingles.
On the other hand, slate requires a specialist and experienced roofing contractor because it must be installed correctly and the contractor needs to understand how to apply the slate to a particular roofing project.
