Files under Advice | Leave a Comment

The arrival of winter heralds festivities, celebrations, and lots of dressing up. It is during the cold months that fashion trends and hairstyles are tested to their limits, given the combination of stressful activities and uncooperative weather. You need to step up your hair care regimen to meet the demands of the season regardless of how well your hair reacts to the cold.

There are men and women who barely experience any hair care challenges during winter but there are those who really get hit hard. From dryness, frizziness, hair static, dandruff, split ends, hair breakage and excessive hair fall, the list of problems could just go on and on. Most hair experts would suggest that you go to a salon for treatment for any or most of these problems. The problem though is that during winter time, where holidays are near, people are already juggling too many appointments that a trip to the salon may be impossible to do.

The Perfect Gift For Every Occasion

Files under Advice | Leave a Comment

Anniversaries, birthdays, graduations…. There are some many gift giving events in a year. These types of events tend to call for more sentimental gifts, if they involve our loved ones. However, it is also very hard to decide what to give sometimes. Scrapbooks are great solutions to this issue. They aren’t too expensive, but provide a gift that will last forever. You don’t have to buy fancy thermal transfer ribbons to make a good scrapbook. Thermal transfer labels and all that fancy stuff was just created by people who have too much money on their hands to spend on crafts. You can make wonderful scrapbook for fewer than fifty dollars.

You don’t need to be an artist to make a good scrapbook either. The great thing about scrapbooks is that they can be different for each person you’re making them for. Some people like really tacky, quirky things while others like things very neat and serious. Craft stores realize this and have scrapbooking supplies for all of the different types of people. Card stock is scrap booker’s best friend. You can make a dull page look fantabulous with the right background paper.

If you don’t like the idea of a normal old boring scrap book; you can do something a little different. Altered books are amazing gifts. They are much more creative and exciting than just a normal scrapbook. Your loved one will be floored when you give them this gift; it will look like you invented the wheel. Go to a thrift store or used book store and purchase a fairly thick hard cover book. The bigger the book length and width wise, depends on what types of things you plan to put in it. If it is too large, you will run into the issue of not being able to fill space, which is a lot worse than not having enough space. However, if it is too small you may be disappointed with the around you can fit in it. Doing an altered book is always an adventure.

Christmas Shopping the Most Rewarding Way

Files under Advice | Leave a Comment

Money seems to always be top-of-mind this time of year This is because the “festive season” always brings the crushing expectation that we will spend, spend, spend – and outdo ourselves yet again this year. We spend extra money on gifts, as well as buying decorations and purchasing items used for entertaining. Creating for the family a holiday budget can help us keep our spending to a manageable level. No matter how you try, though, chances are that you will be spending money during the Christmas season. Because you are likely to spend money during the holidays anyway, you might as well arrange to get some of your money back.

Credit Card Rewards and Holiday Shopping

One of the best ways to maximize your holiday shopping is to make use of a rewards credit card as you flit from store to store to store. Rewards credit cards provide perks for making purchases you would make anyway. Rather than buying Christmas gifts with a debit card, you can build up points with a rewards credit card. These reward points can then be redeemed for travel, merchandise, or even cash.

How to Save Money on Your High-Tech Toy Purchases

Files under Advice | Leave a Comment

Now more than ever people are looking to save money any way they can. Here are some important tips on getting the most for your money when buying high-tech toys or technology.

1. First they begin with a broad search on the specific model product you are interested in. Amazon.com is a good place to start as they usually have fairly low prices on most items. If you are considering a used item be sure to check Amazon for the other sellers that are offering the used products. Another good place to get a broad idea of the prices is eBay.com. Remember that eBay.com also offers brand-new products.

2. The next thing to check is if there are any coupon or promotional codes available from the manufacturer. Do a search using the manufacturer’s name and “coupon code” or “Promo code”. Often tying manufacturers will promote their products with significant discount codes that they make available and are posted on various coupon websites.

3. You’ll often find the best prices locally through craigslist. This of course is hit and miss depending upon the popularity of your product and the size of your local city. Sometimes you’ll find a seller trying to get nearly full price or higher than what you found in your research in step number one. Sometimes, they may have bought the item locally at a much higher price than is available online and they simply don’t realize that they are asking too much for the item. I’ve often been able to get them to lower their price by e-mailing them and providing a link showing where they’re very same item is available much cheaper online.

Thoughts Concerning the Best Place For Retirement

Files under Advice | Leave a Comment

What are the main questions that have to be resolved in the minds of people who reach retirement age? Primarily, the question of where to spend their time needs to be weighed carefully. Secondarily, the question of what will be the most productive occupation for them has to be well answered in their minds.

Naturally, old people would prefer to stay at home, with the people they love, people who are used to their peculiarities and know how to put up with them Two factors make staying at home very attractive for most retirees, dependent also on their own temperament. First is the natural bond between members of the same family and second, there is the fact that they have gotten used to each others habits and have learned to live with each other’s peculiarities. Both factors lead to a deeper understanding of everyone’s emotional and physical needs.

Retirement is not completed on a person’s 60th birthday. For that matter, neither should it be completed for so long as a person lives. There are happily many people in their 80’s who have not really retired or withdrawn from the world in their mind’s eye. But as a rule, the thinking of a person has to be coaxed to accept the peculiarities of his position as a senior citizen.
