This is why this article is going to attempt to explain some of the most common questions dealing with this particular type of service. The reader should also be able to gain a better understanding behind how these rentals work.

So why are players who fill the shoes of the goalie so commonly rented while other players are not? The answer is quite simple. This would of course be because of how very important a goalie is. The position is simple, yet quite important, and therefore many companies rent out this player. Teams that are lacking a goalie for even a single game, need somebody to fill this very important position.

One question alone will be able to help a team determine whether this type of service will be worth their money or not. How much will it cost for the team to train a goalie that can be used in such back up scenarios? If the cost is quite high and a back up might be needed several times a season, these services might be a good option. These services are not the best option for all teams.

There was a time when these were could only be found and played in bars, recreation rooms and other commercial establishments. There was also a time when people had to make their own tables. Today, a lot of people are able to play the game even in the privacy of their own homes. In fact, there are many websites which sell shuffleboard tables and accessories online. That is because more and more people have been buying and showing interest in this classic game. This renewed interest can also be attributed to the desire of today’s generation to go for the classics. And if there is any game that can be considered a true classic, it has to be shuffleboard.

Those who are not so good with the game need not despair. The rules are very simple an winning does not require any special skill or talent. There is, in fact, only one thing to keep in mind when playing the game and that is to shoot the weight far enough so that it lands close to the edge of the table or, even better, so that it lands exactly on the edge of the table. The farther the weight is from you, then the better your chances are at winning but make sure that the weight stays on and does not fall off the table. And no, this game is not a game of luck. Though you may get lucky once in a while, the ability to shoot the weight with preciseness and accuracy can be honed through repetition and practice. So in order to prevent your weights from being taken or knocked off the table, you will have to use some serious strategies. The placing, therefore, of your weights is an important aspect of the game. Aiming for the corners of will usually make it more difficult for the other player to knock off your weight.

Buying your very own shuffleboard table will help you develop and master techniques in shooting and placing weights. Files under Sports | Leave a Comment

The 1998 baseball season featured an amazing home run race by Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa. Since his rookie season, McGwire had always been a prolific home run hitter. But 1998 was the year that he changed the record books as the whole country watched with anticipation.

As the season progressed, McGwire was blasting one home run after another at a record pace. On September 7th he tied Roger Maris’ record of 61 home runs. Maris had held this record for 37 years, but in the first inning of a game against the Chicago Cubs, McGwire hit a 430 foot home run off of pitcher Mike Morgan.

The next night he broke the record with a 341 shot off of Steve Trachsel. He connected on an 88 mile per hour fastball, hitting a line drive shot that just barely cleared the left-field fence. It was actually his shortest home run of the season. In his excitement McGwire forgot to touch first base, but first base coach Dave McKay led him back to touch it.

Ba Gua: The Barbed Wire Ball

Files under Sports | Leave a Comment

Ba Gua (or Bagua, as it is sometimes spelled) translates as 8 diagram or shape palm. It is built on the 8 basic trigrams found in the I-Ching. It is one of three internal martial arts. (The other two are Hsing-I and Tai Chi.) These internal arts use chi energy for combat purposes as well as body mechanics and alignment of the body – both internal and external. This devastating martial art is known as the barbed wire ball because a person being attacked would feel like they were being wrapped in barbed wire. The more they struggled to get out, the more they would become tangled up and hurt. Although the barbed wire could change direction at any moment, an opponent could not get in any kind of strike without coming out the worse for the exchange.

Of the three internal arts, Ba Gua is the most complicated. There are many different styles of this art. It also trains in many different kinds of movements and the movements used can be very elaborate. Ba Gua is also a combination of hard and soft. Many arts simply go for hard hits. Hsing-I is an example of this kind of hard martial art. In contrast, Tai Chi discourages hard hits of any kind and instead focusing on softness. Ba Gua is like neither of these, using a mixture of both hard and soft hand and footwork. This martial art also trains in many internal energy palms. Among others, these include iron palm, poison hand, vibrating palm, and penetrating palm. These kinds of hand strikes can be deadly.

While other arts are quite linear in their fighting style, going directly for the opponent, Ba Gua is an art of circles. The most common trained movements involve circular walking patterns. These circles can range from pivoting around in a circle in one place to moving around a cirlce of about a 30 foot diameter. The art also places emphasis on training its practitioners to be able to change direction quickly.

They are also very useful in sand bunkers when you need to take a shot from this position. Golfers are not allowed to ground their club into the sand or take a practice shot. What you can do is ground your shoes into the sand in a side to side motion giving you a lot of traction and stability. Then you can take your shot with ease.

Arsenal FC

Files under Sports | Leave a Comment

The rich history of Arsenal football goes back to 1886 at a Arsenal munitions factory in Woolwich. With help from co-workers and local natives that contributed to the start of the football club, the team had no name despite playing it’s first game against Dial Square which they humbly lost 6-0. While sitting at the local pub called Royal Oak, the team name was invented combining the workplace and the pub, hence Royal Arsenal was born. The name only stuck for five years and the founders of the team eventually went with Woolwich Arsenal for the team name. What began as fun and exercise for these hardworking men, little did history know or the men themselves of what they unleashed. In that same year Woolwich Arsenal became a professional club.

In the early days of the league itself, the London FA tried to coax other London teams like Tottenham, Queen’s Park Rangers and Millwall to form a southern league but the proposal was rejected. Woolwich Arsenal applied to the league and in 1893 were elected to the Second Division. They were London’s only professional club and the first club south of Birmingham City to be elected to the league. Their first ever league game was played in a 2-2 draw against Newcastle United.

Arsenal’s long football history began with Herbert Chapman in the summer of 1925. He is easily the most talked about factor that made Arsenal into the football club it remains today. The team struggled within the league for years and by 1930, Chapman’s persistence was starting to pay dividends and Arsenal won it’s first trophy. Despite the sudden death of Chapman from pneumonia in 1934 at the age of 55, Arsenal was the team to beat during the whole decade and having three back-to-back titles to it’s credit.
